Topic: IMPORTANT: Bugs in the new Release (Thur, March 6th, 2008)

We're working hard patching all the bugs in a big release we made yesterday.  We've been testing the release for 2 weeks now, and tried to make sure all 'critical' actions were working correctly.  There will be a few odd behaviors popping up here and there, but hopefully nothing that will stop you from talking in your forum.

Please use this topic to create a running thread of any bugs you come across after the upgrade yesterday.  We have our own internal bug tracking system and I will make sure every bug is logged.  We'll update this topic intermittently.

Thanks for your support and understanding through this.  We've received tons of positive feedback on the new designs and everybody has been very helpful and patient, we appreciate that.

Thanks for the update, Chief.

Here's two posts of mine (from another support thread) with issues we're having at our forum since the upgrade yesterday.

yeah, IE6 is a bit out of 'complimence' with web standards, but we'll get it cleaned up.

Here's an example of one of the bugs 7of9 mentioned.  I tried to reply under her post above.  The cursor won't appear in that reply box so I'm unable to use t, so I moved down to this box in order to type. I'm going to hit "submit" and I expect what I've typed here to move up to that box (though when it eventually posts I don't think it appears up there but at the bottom of the thread in reply to the initial post).  Extra letters (I suspect codes) appear.  If I type after it jumps up and then hit submit, the words typed after the jump don't appear.  Trying now.

(Edited to add this:) Yes.  That is what happened, though it looks as if this is posting under her post.  The post jumped  up to the box above with extra letters in it.  I added a sentence after it jumped up.  When I submitted the post, however, the added sentence didn't appear.

This bug will prohibit me from replying to posts in a thread.

And I'm not sure what this is supposed to look like, but I don't find the "look" of lefora any better, in fact I like it less.  I'm using Internet Explorer.  Just mentioned that because of one of the other posts in the thread.

Thanks for all your work!

hey Kaiman, would you be able to find out what sorta issue they are having?  Such as the login window doesn't pop up, user/password not recognized, etc.

They can type their username and password in the login fields at the top right of the forum (viewable when you're not logged in).  Usernames must be typed in lowercase and passwords are cAsE sensative to what the user first entered.)

Thanks dancingirl, I'm trying to recreate the issue on our side. Are you using Internet Explorer 6 or 7? Do you have the same issue if you switch to the 'text editor' (there's a link on the top right of the text input box)

Thanks for bearing with us through these 'rough' times. This release was more then just an updated 'look' of lefora. A lot happened behind the curtains to help speed up the service and give more controls to admins - causing some odd behaviors like what you're experiencing. We're working hard to clean it all up and hope to have you smooth sailing again soon.

We've got a member who is having trouble posting ~ her responses won't post most of the time. I asked her to switch to text editor (you recommended it for another member)  ~ here's her (carolfoasia) response:

Text editor doesn't even give me a cursor. This one at least gives me a cursor and a post every now and then. Maybe 40% of the time it posts. Most are lost.

Any assistance you can give would be appreciated. Let me know if there's any other info you need to work on the problem.

Thanks chief. The problem grew as the day went on - just about everyone lost one post or another (as a matter of fact, it happened to me on this post). After composing a post and selecting "submit," the post disappears and you get an empty text box. This happened with both the text and visual editor (and with both FF and IE browsers). I'm not sure of this part but I think it was happening more when replying to a specific post than when replying to the topic.

Hey Chief.

Yeah the forum looks very bad today. Then again it looks good on FF but horrible on IE. The new thing today is that the NEW post (Ex: 2 NEW)box is staying on. After you see the post it will still say that there is new post. The other thing is that my menu, widgets etc are all all over the place. I keep on thinking its just an IE thing cause it looks good on FF. The NEW box thing happens on any browser though.

Thanks.

I also just found out that the widget with the stats of the forum is wrong and that it is impossible right now to move topics.

Thanks

The member who cannot post, are they having trouble logging in, or do they not see a text box unless the our anonymous?

thanks, we just made some IE updates this morning, if you're still having display issues in IE, please paste a URL that looks funky in IE.
