Private Forum : Approving Members ?

Hi,

I created a forum and I want certain people I know to join.

However, I want to manually approve each new member, before they get access to my forum.

After I created my forum, I created a new user account, found the forum, and auto joined. That's exactly the sort of behaviour I want to avoid.

Any ideas ?

Great site btw and the forums look nice and clean ! Good work !

Hey Wallace, we'll be offering 'private forums' in the future.  Thanks for the compliments.

To update this thread, we currently offer private forums (as of the past few months)

It is a year later since the question about private forums was asked, and now Lefora supports them.  I'm in the process of testing out my demo site and have made it Private, but I don't see any options that allow me to Add the users who want to join, and preventing them from joining until I do.  How can I do this on a Private forum.  Thanks!

Once a user attempts to join a private forum they will be added to a pending members list, if there is anyone in this list you as the admin will see it at the top of the 'members' page inside the admin panel and you should also be notified via email of their request to join.

On that page you can approve or decline their request.

If there's no one in the list, then nothing will appear at the top of the page, so try get someone to join and it should show up.

Click 'Forum Admin' then click the Members tab.

You may have to change your privacy settings in the admin panel first, under 'Settings'
