Add a calendar to your forum

#0, by chief, 08 April 2008 06:34 PM

Eventually, we'll build out our own calendar widget into the forum, but in the meantime, there are a number of third party choices you can choose from to add a calendar on your side bar.

Here's a widget that allows you to import an 'ical' calendar, such as a google calendar or facebook calendar:

http://www.yourminis.com/minis/yourminis/yourminis/mini:calendar

Just click 'Edit Me' -> Edit, then paste in your iCal URL and click 'Save'.

To get the code to paste into your forum, click "Copy Me" then click on the "+" icon for "Copy Embed Code"

You can now post this embed code into a new topic or as a widget on your sidebar.  I'll follow-up with a post on how to use the Widget panel to add Custom HTML embed code.

Have any other calendar suggestions?  Post them below.

lefora only supports 'Flash' widgets, i'm not sure if google calendar is flash, but widgetbox should have a calendar widget that is a flash app that will work in lefora.

Copy the embed code from beside the YT video and click the Embed Flash button on a post, then drop the copied code there.

The problem is once you have put it on the forum you can't add events.

Get a flash calendar that you can link to a google calendar ical feed. Change the google calendar to update the calendar. I use one from http://www.yourminis.com to do this.
