You may have noticed at the top of your forum, there is a 'Forum' link and a 'Headlines' link. Just what are these two pages?
They are basically two different views of your forum.
Headlines page
This is a newspaper style homepage. We attempt to find hot stories and filter them into this main headlines page. We're constantly improving our algorithms to detect what is 'hot' and 'new'. We'll also look through all the posts in a forum to see if there is any media embedded in a topic, such as a picture or a video.
This is the first page that 'non-members' see first. So if you send a link of your forum to friends, such as http://funstuff.lefora.com, you'll see the 'headlines' page until you join and become a member.
Think of this as the front page of the New York Times website, which gives you a daily overview of the news, before you dive deeper into the stories.
Forum Page
This is what all members see by default when the visit your forum or click on your forum's title in the header. This is the more traditional view and makes sense to members of the forum who just want to see what's new since their last visit - as opposed to the headlines page which may display the same information across multiple visits in the same day.
Additional Views
We're constantly working to imporve both of these views. One view 'headlines' is the more entertaining way to view the topics in your forum, while the 'forum' view offers much more utility to view the topics. You can pass out the links of either view to your friends, just attach /forum or /headlines after the url of your forum, such as http://support.lefora.com/forum.
Other views that we're are maturing is the 'Recent Posts' view. If you click on the title of your Recent Posts widget, or the 'See more' link at the bottom of the Recent Posts widget, you'll see a view of all topics and replies, latest first. While this view makes it difficult to follow a conversation, it's very useful if you're active on the forum and want to quickly see all new posts since your last visit.
