Hiding ads, placing my own ads and hosting it on my own site.

Hello there.

Well done on Sefora, it seems to be a very useful project- great designs. I will soon start a large forum in my niche and I 'm thinking about using Sefora. I have two main questions:

1) Can I switch off the Google ads and display our own? Can we fully customize the layout and design so we select where to place the ads?

2) Can we host it on our own server and domain- i.e. remove the .lefora.com?

If the above cannot be done, I would suggest you offer an advanced (paid) membership to make them possible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

hey tasos, thanks for the questions, so some answers:

0) Our service is 'lefora' not 'sefora'

1) We're allowing some forums to switch off ads, specifically, one's that are very active (both members and posts), if your forum has a lot of activity, send me an email at 'chief -at- lefora.com' and we can talk about options.

2) We do custom domain hosting as you ask, such as http://forum.YOURDOMAIN.com without the lefora.com.  If you want to participate in this program, please email me with you forum url, 'chief -at- lefora.com'

best,
chief

Is there a way to integrate this service into an existing website. I would like to embed the forum inside a wiki page and not have this as a separate page.

hey techtraining, you can use iframes to embed your forum on other sites, just follow the iframe directions here:

Thank you Chief,

I have some more questions. Some of them might be naive, but I need to make sure that some of the below are possible before thinking about using Lefora.

1) Is there a cost to switch off ads?

2) Can we totally host the forum on our own server?

3) Is the code available and can we tweak it? Can we fully customize it- move things around, add other visual elements, new functions etc?

4) Can we host different ad types as we wish?

5) Can it be used as a domain of its own (for example http://mysite.com) rather than a subdomain (forum.mysite.com)?

Thanks again for your help.

1) We'll offer a premium service in the future to switch off of ads.

2) No, lefora forums are hosted on http://lefora.com, we can apply a custom domain to your forum, just shoot me an email at 'chief -at- lefora.com'.

3) You have full access to the CSS in your admin panel. You can choose from different themes which have different layouts (We're constantly adding new themes), you can choose the colors and upload images. You can even alter the layout of your sidebar via 'widgets' and add third-party flash widgets.

4) See #1, we'll have that as a premium service in the future.

5) Yes, you can use custom domains, see #2.

Hi sijazz40, other than upgrading to Lefora Pro and removing ads completely, there is no way to move the ads around.

You can upgrade your forum to Lefora Pro by clicking the 'Upgrades' tab in your admin panel.

As this is an old topic (before we had Lefora Pro), i'm locking this topic, but you can start another topic if needed.
