you can still see some in searches:

the user registration could use captcha http://recaptcha.net/

The reason I'm looking into Lefora is because they claim you spend less time supporting and moderating: http://www.lefora.com/features/
They even claim "No SPAM!"

Our spam system is constantly learning. We do sweeps of spam all the time and for every message that gets through we catch 100's. Hence why we allow people to do anonymous posting.
Our goal is to avoid captcha's if possible since its just another step in the user experience. If things change we will reasses the need for them.

we have looked into it and decided to build our own spam filtering system. Forum posting looks slightly different the blog commenting.
Our system gets smarter as admins and moderators flag posts with spam. We're looking for feedback, so feel free to email me with your thoughts and experiences, 'chief -at- lefora.com'
