I'd like to be able to do this so that I can have a black background but can still see the type. Thanks.

you can do this by changing your theme to the 'simple' theme, and selecting "Simply Dark".  Click 'Forum Admin' -> 'Themes'

Also, if you know how to edit CSS, you have the option of changing colors via the CSS link under Themes.

alternativly, with the 'Classic' theme, you can select 'Green on Black' then save it, click 'Colors & Images' and drag the slider bar so that the green changes color.

The type is still a little too faint to see. Maybe there should be an option to choose type colour and background colour too? Who knows lol

thanks, we had exposed such options before, but then it became overkill with too many option, so we decided to make it super simple.

thanks, we used to have such options, but there were so many color choices, from tabs, to links, to backgrounds, that we decided to simplify the whole process.

we'll be improving the theme editing options in the future.

Cool thanks that'd be great. Also maybe make it possible to create some kind of forum banner that you could add a pic too?

if you use a theme such as 'Juice' or 'Simple', you can add a forum banner.

When using the 'Classic with Sidebar' theme, people have added a logo in the sidebar, by using the 'Custom HTML' widget (under the widgets tab) and embedding an image there, that is hosted in imageshack or http://photobucket.com

For instance, let's say you wanted to use this image on your sidebar:
http://photobucket.com/image/peace%20or%20peacesign/becca098/peacesign.jpg?o=1

You would copy the html code below the picture (listed as 'for websites & blogs') DON'T use the one listed for 'forums & bulletin boards' (i know, it's annoying that they have it labeled like that)

Step 1. Upload photo to http://photobucket.com or another image hosting website
Step 2. In your forum, Click 'Forum Admin', then the 'Widgets' tab
Step 3. Drag the 'Custom HTML' widget from the left to the right, and put it at the top of all the widgets.
Step 4. Click 'Edit' on the custom html widget
Step 5. Paste in the html code, like the code below
Step 6. Click OK, and remember to click 'Save' on the widgets panel.

EXAMPLE html code to copy into a "Custom HTML" widget:
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm239/becca098/?action=view&current=peacesign.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm239/becca098/peacesign.jpg" border="0" alt="peace"></a>
