Exporting data

I did a search and didn't see any sign of this feature.
I would love to be able to export my forum data.
I just want a backup so it's not locked into the site.
Maybe an XML dump?

Hi Shenandoah, an XML dump is something that's in the works. Currently, you could have a running backup of everything in your forum by subscribing to your forums RSS feed (say into google reader), but that doesn't give you much options to move the data into anything else.

Over the next 2-3 months, we'll be working on a number of features geared towards businesses and large forums, one of these is an XML spec for downloading your forum.

We don't want admins to feel locked into Lefora, we want them to *want* to stay on Lefora :)

Thanks. Lefora is working out fine. Just nice to have backups on my own computer. Keep it up.

I've run a large message board for the last 4 years on phpBB (over 4,000 members, and close to 19,000 posts.) Recently I converted it to SMF with absolutely no problems.

I'm testing Lefora out for my new business as an alternative to self hosted and often clunky open source alternatives, but the ability to export if necessary into an open source solution is a major decision factor.

Thanks jdog for that feedback, we understand that completely and something we'll have available over the next 2-3 months. You would have just that option. As that is sometime away, if you are somewhat interested in Lefora, and wanted to follow-up with me personally to learn more about it, you can send me an email at 'chief -at- lefora.com'
