Content Import Frequency Setting

Lefora is a great service, and I love it as a forum.  What I would like to see is an ability for individual forums to be able to set the frequency for import.  The current import settings are too slow for me, as I am using it to import episode information from podcast feeds, so that listeners can comment on a particular show.

Sometimes the imported content lags too far behind the podcast time for this to work effectively.  Ideally I would like to see the content pinged every hour.

Thanks for the feedback, it's set to 24 hours now, to limit bandwidth stress on our servers. We may provide more options for admins in the future. Sorry that it's not optimal for your group. You could always add an RSS widget to your sidebar, that would list the most recent podcasts and let a member start a new topic if they want to comment.

This service allows you to build a flash widget off an RSS feed:

Hey Chief!

Thanks for the reply - that was a quick response.  For the record, this is a feature I would definitely be willing to pay for because it's important to how I am planning to move forward with lefora.  I like your suggestion, but because I feature a growing number (currently 20+) podcasts, they would be spawning like rabbits all over the place! :)

I'm wondering if you would be able to articulate how and when this service is activated, because I'm having trouble pinning down when this happens.  If I know this then potentially I can post episodes prior to your service pinging which means 24 hours doesn't turn into near 48 if I miss the cycle.

The schedule to import rss feeds, roughly happens in the early mornings of Pacific Time, sometime between midnight and 6am PST.

Adding more options for admins in the future would indeed be nice. I for one, believe it or not, do not want it too frequently as me and my members are quite active in posting new threads and do not want feeds displacing topics from the headlines too fast. I would like an option where admins can possibly control the frequency for each blog, i.e. 1 blog may be set to be imported on a daily basis, others every 2-3 days and so on and so forth. And I guess some would like every x hours or so. Thanks.

I am not seeing content on my site pinged every 24 hours.  Some have not been pinged for a week, and the feeds have been available.  There doesn't seem to be any other setting apart from putting in the feed and specifying where the content should go in the forum.  If this is correct, then I think you guys might have an issue with this feature working consistently.

Cheers,
James

hi, it's possible those posts are going to your spam folder (you just have to teach the system they aren't spam by unspamming them)
