Somebody here at Lefora has been hard at work on a new posting editor that combines the two different editors into one and adds a few new features.
Here's a sneak preview of it below. The great thing about Lefora compared to other forum software, is we can upgrade your forum automatically for free, you don't have to do a thing! Sometime on Jan 15th, you'll see the new posting editor in your forum.
Here's everything that comes with your new editor:
- Formating options: Bold, italics, underline, different fonts, paragraph alignment, bullets
- An undo button
- BBcode support - basic tags (b,i,u,url,img,quote,code)
- Ability to highlight a word and make it an html link
- Buttons for inserting images and embedding video
- Auto-detection within a post of image URLs and youtube video URLs. Just paste the link in your post and hit <ENTER> or <SPACE> for us to auto-detect it - a menu will appear at the bottom with choices.
- Emoticons
- File upload button (at the bottom, takes images, videos, mp3s, whatever)
- Not losing images and videos when you go back to 'edit' a post

Some common questions:
Does the new editor support emoticons?
Yes, we'll have a few emoticons initially, and we'll be offering a premium service where admins can upgrade their emoticon packs
Why does the new editor not do X (where X is some feature)?
We tried to implement the features that 95% of members use while posting. If there's a certain feature that was left out, it was to simplify the posting editor for all members; and to trim it down on the back-end so that we could make upgrades to it in the future. We'll continue to listen to feedback in case there is a high demand for something we left out.
Will I be able to switch back to the old editors?
No and why would you want to

Each of the old editors had their downfalls and made it very difficult for us to maintain and add features to them. We'll now have just one editor that we can continue improving and adding features to. The two editors also caused lots of confusion to new people on lefora.

Known Issues: (that we'll fix)
- If you put a lot of blank new lines between paragraphs (carriage returns), they will be condensed into one line. You could put <spaces> on those lines to avoid this.
- Mixed formatting on quoted posts may produce unexpected results.

Remember: As with any change, some people love it, some people hate it. If you're unhappy with this new editor, please post specifically what you don't like or what's confusing to you - we'll listen to that feedback and make improvements. Please don't post generic "i don't like it" comments as those are not helpful for us to understand what you like and don't like - they will just be deleted.
