New Posting Editor arrives January 15th
Thanks for the update Cookie....
Suddenly today Admins cannot Edit Posts. Is this a bug?
you mean admins cant edit members post? cause thats always been. I can edit posts fine. Try giving your computer a breather. refresh the page all that jazz.
I can confirm Admins can now only Edit their OWN Topics or Posts. Editing of others posts is no longer available. I have 4 admins on our forum and it's the same for all. We can Move, Delete, Lock etc but the EDIT facility is only there for OWN POSTS by admins not for any other members posts.
I found out recently that only Admins have edit of their own posts (We never had full edit of all posting, btw) and Moderators do not. This is not a change that came about with the new Editor. Leforas stance on this was they may change this, but so far only a few people cared about it, so it is not a priority. I had posted about this a while back, as I believed Adminil did, and no one else chimed in.
If you, The Forum owners out there, want to have more Edit Status let the folks at Lefora know. I really believe this choice should be selectable by a Forums Owner but I would settle for having at least the Moderators having edit over their own posts. It would at least give a reward for someone to become a Moderator and not be a hollow Title with only enforcement activities such as delete posts.
Not to mention when a post needed to be changed, by granting temporary Mod rights, it could be done without giving someone full Admin rights to a Forum. Thus perserving security.
Sorry Matt 4 but I beg to differ with your first paragraph. Since Wednesday when the new editor came on line I had been able to EDIT posts made by other members of my forum. As of this morning, I can no longer do this.
What if someone were to post something they didn't want deleted but merely changed? Asdmins - not moderators - could edit it for them.
Of course it may be that someone has realised that full editing had been switched ON with the new editor and had now switched it OFF again. If this is the case then I would like it switched back on please.
That could be since I was used to the previous behavior I never tried editing someone elses post after the posting editor change. I certainly would prefer a more open edit policy.
ohh good! Ok, thank you cookies!!!! phew~!
Re : Editing Posts.
Not sure I like the idea of someone, even an Admin, being able to put words in people's mouths. If you don't like your post, delete it and repost.
Also, I would like to see where people have edited posts, with a non-removable note at the bottom with date and time of edits.
Thanks.
PS Are we getting HTML back?
The big problem with delete is the First post of a Topic. If you delete that all posts are gone.
By the way I have started a Poll on Editing rights: http://support.lefora.com/2009/01/19/poll-what-do-you-feel-about-having-more-edit-right/page1/ here.
So I think any edit discussion should be there since this Topic here concerns the New Posting Editor.
Link doesn't work, Matt.
Sorry about that, at any rate it is the Requested Features Category of the Support Forum. (Another reason edit would be handy?)
Chief or Cookie or whoever can help.. I don't know how to delete the video which I posted with old editor.. I want to delete it and upload new video.. how can I do that?
Any idea when we'll be able to post from our mobile devices? This is really frustrating my forum members (and me)
Also, we are getting A LOT of double and even triple posts since this new editor came out. Any idea what that's all about?
Yep, double posts happened a few times yesterday for us, too.
The new editore is of absotutely no use to me!my forum relies on being able to copy and past html codes and having banners appear in my threads.i can no longer do this. They just appear in the text now and the banners dont appear,If this is not changed i will be moving to a new host!
I'm very disappointed with new text editor. I prefered the old editor for 2 mainly reasons:
the HTML editor (very important!) and the image editor (it's very important too to put the image in the right place for good manage and pretty look)!
That will be one of these pesky double posts then?
