Adding pages

Hi there,
I am just wondering if in this site you are able to add pages to the forum eg bday pages, special events etc without having to make it a topic in your forum.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, we do have a pages options, but it's currently in beta testing so we haven't exposed it.

However, you can create a new 'topic' and 'lock' the topic so nobody can reply to it.  As admin, you can edit that topic at any time in the future, so it's essentially a page.  You can link to this page from your group's sidebar, by using the 'Links' widget or 'Custom HTML' widget in your Forum Admin Panel.

Step 1:
Create a new page by actually Starting a Topic, you can put this in any category, or you can choose to make a new category in your admin panel called 'Pages'

Step 2:
After posting the topic, click the 'Topic Admin Actions' and select 'Lock Topic'

Step 3:
Copy the URL (web address) of the topic/page from your webbrowser's address bar.

Step 4:
Click 'Forum Admin' -> Appearance -> Sidebar

Step 5:
Add the 'Links' widget to your sidebar, click 'Edit' and paste in the URL (web address) you copied before.  Click 'Save' on the widget, then 'Save' again on the page and you're all done.

I guys, any news on the pages yet?

We've put this on the back burner and as many forum admins have opted to just start a new 'thread' as a page, and lock it from replies.  For instance, we do this here on support with our Lefora FAQ and link to it from the Sidebar (under the 'Links of Interests' widget)

I would like to add a catagory page above New etc so that my forum members can see it immediately, can you do this and how?

you can start a new topic and choose which category to place it in.  You can make the topic 'sticky' so it always appears at the top.  You do this by clicking 'forum admin actions' on the topic.

This would be something I am very interested in. I would like to be able to add a page button that members can find quickly without searching through all the topics. Something that may be important that i can have it on a tab on the top of the page that they can find quickly. I think this would be a great add for lefora forums. Hope you all make this change for us. Thanks for lefora offering great products.

if you would like to treat a 'topic' as a page, you can do what i do here in the support forum.  Start a topic, lock it, and link to it from the sidebar (you can see it here on support at the top right of the forum, under 'Links of Interests')

It will be great when there is a pages option!
