HELP - I can't post pictures or other media

note, it seems there may be a bug if you're linking to a picture with a ~ or a % sign in the url (web addresses).  We're investigating and we'll have it fixed shortly.

I can't up load video from YouTube for some reason, when I used to be able to with the old editor.  What am I doing wrong?  I am embedding the code in the Flash editor, but all I get is a Flash logo.

It sounds like you have a Flash script blocker installed in your Browser. If you're using Firefox, do you have Noscript installed? or if you're using IE do you have IE7pro installed?

hi shepherdess, the flash logo is just a temporary logo when you're first posting, as soon as you hit 'submit' the video will actually be embed in the topic.  sorry this was confusing, give it a try and you should see it work (just ignore the flash logo)

I'm having a similar problem. When I go to upload pictures directly from my computer, it gets to 99% and hangs. I wait and wait and nothing happens. It's very frustrating.

As well, one member can't log on no matter what. What can I tell her?

Having trouble posting images from Picasa. Tried with Safari 3.2.1 (4525.27.1) and Firefox 3.0.5 for Mac. I pasted the URL into the Insert Image field and it spits back an error that reads "Invalid image URL, please try again." I found a similar thread where someone was posting from Picasa, but I think the solution that worked for them was the Autodetect feature. It won't autodetect the url in my post. I wish I could just go back to hard coding the stuff.

I'm using Safari as well - 3.2.1. Everything else seems to work fine for me, but I haven't tried loading photos from photobucket. I prefer uploading directly from the HD though.

hey bassem, that's a bug, i just recreated it above :P  I'll open a ticket for it and get it fixed.

Christine - do you know if the photo you're trying to upload is very large?  Is there another test file you could try uploading, say a small text file as a test?  Could you also try to see if you have the same issue in Firefox.

can you provide the url for the image you are trying to post (send it to me via pm if you dont want everyone to see it).

It is most like that its is just not a standard format and I need to teach our system to recognize it, which wont take long once I have it.

Chief, the file is 1.8 MB. I'll try a smaller 60KB file in a few to see if that works. 
A few days ago I uploaded others that were the same size and had no problems, but if that's the problem, I guess I'll have to resave things smaller.

As to Firefox, I have nothing but problems with that browser. I use it ONLY when I have to. I find Safari to be much better and more reliable (though a bit slower, admittedly). Firefox tends to crap out on me every few pages, and I just got sick of it. It's about the same as using Internet Explorer was on a PC. 

There appears to be a limit of about 1.1MB at the moment. I re-sampled a photo to several different sizes and anything above 1.1MB stalls. 1.1MB stalls at 99% 2.2MB stalls at 65% and so on.

Thanks hal9000 and Chief - it was the size. I resaved the photo to a smaller file and it uploaded just fine.

How do you post mp3s?

I just tried to post a brief message and 4 pics on this site and it shows where the attachments are added, but when I click submit it says "Submitting .... please wait" and when the next screen comes up .. nothing is there .. message, pictures .. 0 nothing, zilch!
Are you going to fix this problems. Before the upgrade I didn't have any problems. The size of the pic is small like I used before when I uploaded.
Let me know when fixed.

Now it just left me post one picture, but before none of them showed up ..??????
