HELP - I can't post pictures or other media

Hi, just discovered all this malarkey! I'm trying to embed some flash code into a topic (from widgetbox), but all I get is an error message.
What elementary error have I commited?

Usually the code from widgetbox is missing an </embed> at the end of the code - you'll have to add this manually. Generally, your code should start with <embed> and end with </embed>.

My image keeps going away - a placeholder there instead.  When I look at the properties it is there, just keeps disappearing.  I have used Chrome, Firefox and IE7, all see a placeholder instead of my image.  It is sort of our forum mascot, our main graphic.

Help would be appreciated, I have put it there dozens of times and it keeps going away!

probably doesn't like 'hot linking'. If you have rights to the picture, then we recommend downloading the picture to your harddrive and uploading it to lefora. If you don't have rights to use the picture, you should contact the person who owns it and ask them if you can use it.

Basically, you're embedding a picture from another site, and that site after sometime, is preventing the picture from being displayed on other sites.

It comes, it goes.... trying to upload as an attachment and put it there.   Left more placeholders all over the place.    I give up.

Can you try embedding the image in this thread (or uploading it), just as I did above, and i'll investigate.

We don't support BMPs to be embedded in the post as that's an older image format.  JPG, GIF, and PNG are fully supported.  The image I embedded was a JPG, the one you originally pointed to.

Thank you, I hope that's what it was.   Now I hope the jpg will stay put. 

This is one crazy forum, i recently posted that i had figured out why i couldn't post an image from PB and i thought i had it fixed but when i went back to the post my image which was supposed to be
496x498 is now 141x24 but when i get the properties link and paste it into the browser (i use both IE and Maxthon) the right size shows in either browser.

Its back to not letting me post when insert the image link, the image shows just fine but when i hit the submit button it goes to a page that has a dinosaur on it and it says it can't find this site, which is the site i was poating on.....

I can't get photobucket or youtube video to embed into the posts. My members are upset with me. What am I doing wrong? I take the HTML code and put it into the flash embed and click embed flash. It tells me wrong format? Please help.

You need the embed code... photobucket leaves out a </embed> at the end so you have to enter that manually....

how do i put pics and media on my forum anyone?

You can upload pics, mp3s etc from your pc using the upload button below the post editor - you can embed pics, videos, and flash objects using either the 'Insert Image' or 'Embed Flash' buttons in the post editor.

I'm trying to upload a picture but the upload files button doesn't appear below were it says attachments. The submit reply button is on the right and work as I can post text but I can't attach a picture. I'm using Windows Explorer 7 with defult settings I think. I know you can use photobucket to insert an image but I wanted to upload it straight from my desktop.

you may not have adobe flash installed, you will need flash to upload photos.
