mouse over preview/quick delete
With the amount of members and threads growing at a ridiculous rate daily on our site it often gets to be overwhelming sometimes. I have a couple feature requests...
First being a mouse over preview, much like vBulletin has. I don't think I need to explain why this would help everyone out. Drag the mouse over the subject and a brief portion of the OP's comment shows up...
Second, a quick delete box much like an email inbox folder has. This of course would be for mods/admins only. We have a few for sale/trade/wanted categories on our site. Any threads that haven't been posted in for three weeks get deleted, some areas its two weeks. Opening up each individual thread takes forever sometimes. If said feature could be added to PMs as well that would be amazing!!!
Only other thing I can think of right now would be a way to sort thru the members area better, admin panel. Going thru every pace to remove inactive members is a bit of a hastle sometimes. If there was a way to sort by join date and recent activity I would be more than pleased.
Thank you. You guys are doing great around here.
Thanks for all that feedback, we definitely want to make sure large/active groups are not feeling growing pains - so we appreciate you pointing out pain points.
1. we'll keep it in mind, we used to have a number of little jazzy javascript things like that, but it was slowing the site down. would you mind expanding a little more where you would like to see it and what it would help you do (click through, skip, etc.). We like to understand the behaviors, because then, maybe we can come up with a really cool new idea.
2. Bulk actions is something we will be adding. It's not on the immediate list of things we're working on, but something we will have in the first half of this year.
3. Something we can add when we make changes to that area next, that is useful, thank you.
If any of these are becoming just too much of a headache, please email me and I'll see what we can do about prioritizing - 'chief -at- lefora.com'
2. Also another bulk delete that I would love to have is the category delete. I tried to delete a whole category last night after making a new one (our for sale - bike related). The old one was cluttered and completely unorganized. I setup a new one and gave everyone a week to move their listings. Then tried to delete the whole category. When I tried to do this it said I had to move all of the threads... there were 144 threads I had to individually open and delete. it took forever... Maybe if the check box bulk delete option was implimented this wouldn't be needed... Now that all the threads are deleted, it still says I need to move the threads(that aren't there anymore) in order to delete the category. There is just a blank category now on our site.
Thanks for all your help chief. Again, if you need a large site to test features on, feel free to let me know. I would be happy to help out.
thanks, we'll add the delete options in #2 as well. in the meantime, you can ignore that warning message and tell it to move the topics (nothing will be moved).
#1 will keep in the back of our heads with future developments and reach out to you guys for an early beta testing.
notamessenger, you can just choose to 'move' the category when prompted for deletion and nothing will be moved (if it indeed appears empty to you)
I moved all the threads (that aren't even there anymore) into another category. Then deleted the empty category. It worked, but I had to basically lie to the site. The category still said I had 144 threads inside, however there wasn't actually anything there since I already deleted them.
I am still interested in my original requests.
Also, would there be any way to arrange the members area when viewing it from the admin panel. I want to sort all the members so I can remove anyone that has been inactive in a certain amount of time. I have gone thru all of the members page by page before and it took a few hours. I have about double the members now. This would work great with the quick select as mentioned previously.
I am liking all of the changes around here lately. Lefora, backed 100%
thanks, as for the first request on a javascript hoverover, we don't have any immediate plans to add that as it would slow the site down, and our current concerns are on keeping lefora loading fast, but i hear the desire, and have it noted down.
i'll also renote your request for resorting the membershipship screen, that is a page in need of improvement.
