Lefora moving to Single Category Posting
If you look at the date of change back in February 25th, I would expect it does not affect you at all since you have only a two week old Forum. All it does it eliminate the previous ability to post the same Topic in multiple Categories. Still could be done one at a time if someone wanted to. But now it does not happen by accident.
krackerjap, if you're started your forum for 2 weeks, then the above topic doesn't apply, it was just for older forums. You're all set and there are no changes coming to your forum relating to this.
Sweet! thank you !!!
Previously, you could "cross post" a message in more than one category. So there could be multiple copies of the same message on a forum - as many as one in each category. In your case, you could have had 13 copies of the same message - one in each category.
Lefora has changed it so that a message can only belong to one category. There will now only be ONE copy of a message on your forum, no matter how many categories you have.
In that case I totally agree with the changes....
That probally would have turn me off of the lefora platform when I was looking for one....
Thank Aunti for explaining it to me!
Well I love it. I was getting so sick of moving topics around, deleting topics that had been posted in ten categories unneccessarily.. so as an admin.. THANKYOU!! saved me an hour or so a day in housekeeping on my forum. I do like the idea of categories having individual moderators, hope one day we might get that, but it will be a bonus if it does.. I am so happy with Lefora.. keep up the great work guys.
Im so glad you guys made this change! you know how frustrating it was deleting topics in duplicate and triplicate because people didnt even realize it was mbeing posted multiple times? lol
I'm one of those people that was actually using it. I'm disappointed, especially because all of the work that must have gone into creating it in the first place and the fact that it was one of the site's main "selling" points. it's what made lefora different than all the other forum hosting sites.
i basically saw the "categories" system as standardized tagging. maybe it just needs to be presented as such rather than comparing it to the standard "subforums."
but we'll see what this "tagging" system turns out to be. the problems i've seen with "tagging" in the past are spelling and anticipating others' thought patterns. i guess we'll see if/how the system will handle these issues.
again, thanks for working so hard on the site.
