And this would be different from the old admin page in what way?

Um I think you're going to have to be a little more specific than that.

On a semi-related topic - I prefer a simple, lightweight and easy to use forum that has the features we *need* over a slow, fully customizable one with a million features that we never use. Efficiency, efficiency, efficiency. To quote  a saying often used in architecture - you know when you're near perfection when there is nothing more to take away.

Like all things, taste and needs change. Efficiency is a good start point, but if it was King, we would not need anything more than one Theme with the choice of colors being black.

I mentioned elsewhere having a Expert area of the Admin Panel for those things that would make it difficult for someone new to making a Forum. Lefora already has a setup that use a simple outline when you first create a Forum. After that is the need for Administrating tasks, and Forum Design and Layout. The person uncomfortable with more complicated changes would not need to access the Advanced section.

As for Slowing the Forum down. That is more a function of what is uploaded such as images and videos.

Maybe they mean to have an administrator landing page -- where all the links to the administration controls are on one page rather than on the separate tabs.
This could save lots of clicking trying to find which tab houses what info for newbies.
The page could be broken up into sections with a brief description of the controls and a link to the page that houses them.

MSN groups had a page like this in the Manager Controls and Members got a Member control page directing them to their profile, preferences, and settings.

I guess it depends what you are used to. (One reason a lot of people do not try Linux.) Many new forums here from MSN and these folks are used to a particular way of doing things. I feel the latest iteration of the Admin panel is much more intuitive than what they (Lefora) had before.

You have to understand that there has been quite a few changes in look and operation since I started my Forum with Lefora 8mos back. Many of these have been the results of feedback here on the Support Forum from the individual Forum founders and Admins. That certainly shows a great willingness on the part of Lefora to make things better.

I have not been shy on requesting changes and though I do not agree with everything Lefora does (And they are probably quite sick of hearing from me on certain aspects), I do appreciated the fact that they are active in listening.

Not sure I would like a MSN clone since I have lttle love for MS ways of doing things.

LOL!  The trick for using MSN was basically to figure out how to bastardize the correct way of doing things so you could get something to work on MSN.

I'm beginning to think this is true all over the web...

I have a Yuku forum where they have an "Admin landing page". It's just not all that. Its much more complex. It's not that I can't figure that stuff out, its that most of it is unnecessary. I use maybe 25% of the available controls. And it gets to be a pain when I have to set preferences for every individual board separately and every member separately.

That is one of the reasons we moved our debate forum to Lefora instead. And we are very glad we did.

I would say that if more admin controls are added, please add them to a separate and maybe "Advanced" tab, so those of us who thrive on simplicity don't have to be bothered.
