Moving (mislocalized) posts to a different topic/category?
Being a newbie admin of a forum here, I am discovering that some people are even more newbie than me ... and that they sometimes tend to place their posts to rather unappropriate places (such as a perfect "topic-starter" post placed as a reply to the FAQ). Would it be possible to allow the admin moving not only whole topics to a different category, but also posts (or groups thereof) to a different thread? At present, I just copy the "misplaced" post and re-post it where it should be, but then I always show up as the author, which is not always desirable.
do u have ur own website gryllus.
It would be nice to have a move individual post moderation feature. You can have the person repost to the correct Topic and than delete, but that is not always accomplish able.

Create a separate user identity and call it 'post moderator' or somesuch?
we don't have the ability to move a topic to another thread, but it's very important to teach people about proper forum behavior & etiquette, such as posting in the correct thread. I've found here on support, by just commenting below a post that is offtopic, it teaches the whole community (even new members) to post in the correct spot. So a good practice if you do delete (copy and paste), would be to comment in the thread that it was moved because it was offtopic.
1.
In the Admin area, you can go to the Settings->Categories page and
move one entire category into another one. That's what I used
extensively when items were imported from our MSN group.
2. As
for specific threads, those can be moved using the Admin Actions link
in the starter message in the threads. The interface has recently been
changed - it's bigger and easier to use now, I think. Using this you
can move the thread to a different category. More info on that here:
Some recent changes to your topic layout
I can't see (so far) any way to move a number of threads, only this one-at-a time option, or entire categories, or the copy/paste method you are using for moving items within a thread.
Hope this helps you have a "moving" experience!
Thans to all suggestions!
I may finally go for the post-admin identity, if such things happen more often ... but I hope that our community is small enough to learn just from my individual remarks ![]()
For theskiesthelimit: look up my profile ... but it may be boring, especially for those who do not understand Czech.
