Giving up my forum
After setting up our forum, I wish to abandon it and allow the new administrator to take it over.
Will this person automatically be offered first refusal as they are the only administrator, or will it be open to any member to take over?
Secondly, if I abandon the forum, will I still be a member and able to post as such, or will I have to re-join under a new user name and e-mail address?
You could make someone else the 'founder' - this would revert you to admin status. You will still be a member.
It will be open to any member to take over, if you have somebody in mind, you can talk to them first to see if they're interested, then set them as a co-admin and step down as admin (without abandoning).
You can still post under the same username.
Thats great!
Thanks guys. I didn't realise I could put someone else in as a founder and keep myself as just a member.
So does this mean that you can't promote someone else to "founder" i/e/ - you can't have more than 1 founder?
Yes, like 'Highlander' - there can be only one.

Correct, but as I found out, if you are the current founder, you can nominate who you wish to pass this position on to. You can of course have multiple Admins and mods.

Going off topic here, but that has got to be one of the best movies- Ever!
