RSS Feed Help
Hi,
Please help this novice out.
So I added the RSS feed option to my sidebar and I was expecting to see an RSS icon, similar to blogger where my members could click and receive updates on new content to their email.
The problem is that the sidebar provides a number of options but no button to complete their selection.
Can someone take a look at my forum at http://saverschoice.lefora.com and look at the sidebar and help to make sure I'm implementing the RSS feed correctly?
Thanks.
It seems like you have two versions of the widget. If you delete one, it should be fine. After choosing the appropriate options, a list of sites will be listed below, such as 'Google Reader', 'RSS 2.0 feed', etc. A user can click on one of these to add it to the appropriate place.
Another options, is that at the top of your webbrowser, in the URL field, there is an RSS icon on all lefora forums which can be used to get the rss feed of the forum (or of an individual topic)
hope this helps clarify any confusion.
I went into the Forum Admin area and then went to Appearance/Sidebar and tehre is only one Syndication feed listed.
Do you have any other ideas what could be causing this problem or why the forum the system beleives that there are two widgets?
Thanks
Try deleteing the one, saving it, leaving the admin panel, coming back in and seeing if another one shows. If it does, delete it, save, then return and see what happens.
Something weird is happening. I deleted the Syndication widget. Then logged off and re-entered. The syndication didn't appear on my forum as intended. Then I went back into the admin area and created a new syndicated widget with a new title and then went to the forum and an older syndication widget, the one I deleted appeared.
IS there anyway you guys can fix the problem on your end?
it's possible your browser has some old pages cached. I just visited your forum and I didn't see the syndication widget.
Try hard refreshing your browser, CTRL+F5, and see if that removes any old widgets. Then try to add a new one.
Hi,
I just tried that and it still doesn't work. You can check it out at http://saverschoice.lefora.com. The same thing is happening. You have a buch of options but can't choos your desired syndication.
Bibby1, I have visited and can see TWO RSS Feed widgets in your sidebar and neither have a complete button of any kind. I have just added one to my test forum fptest.lefora.com and that too does not have the button. I'm using FireFox, latest version.
There is no complete button, you select the options and then click one of the feed reader links to use, that's it. I use the google one and add it to my iGoogle home page, it works a treat ![]()
I think you need to remove one of the widgets and save the layout.
I know some people are seeing two widgets but in the admin area, I can only delete one widget. The other one doesn't exist. That's the problem. How do I delete a widget that doesn't exist on my admin end?
Thanks.
Do you have another Admin for your site that could see if he only gets the one widget issue as well? Or perhaps if you tried a different Browser you might be able to solve the problem.
BTW, I was just fooling around on the Widget page in my Forum and it does not always work smoothly for removing Widgets. I found that I needed to remove and than save and than reload the Admin Page and remove again in order to get rid of a Custom Html. As for the Web Link thingy, it tends to retain links that can only be removed through deleted the Widget and creating it all over again. Rather buggy I am afraid.
Ok. So I tried Firefox and the widget works fine. Does this mean that the widget is not compatible with IE?
Lefora recommend IE7. If you're using IE6 or below then it may give poor results.Ok. So I tried Firefox and the widget works fine. Does this mean that the widget is not compatible with IE?

Hi,
I found this site that does work when viewing in IE7:
http://www.toprankblog.com/tools/rss-buttons/
Once you create a feed using feedburner.com, you can use the site above to create feed subscribe buttons and then place the provided html code in an html widget.
Check out myu forum and see how it works. It's not as cool as the widget provided by Lefora but it does work with both IE and Firefox.
