Ok.  it looks better now but do you have any sugestions how I can overide the old text that still appears to the left of the banner?
Should I create a larger banner (wider)?  If so, what size?

Never trust the preview image!

For your header :

#forum_title {display:none;}

#forum_description {display:none;}

If you want to hide the blue bar, then try :

#nav {background-color:transparent;}

For size, between 600 & 900px wide... 124px high.

Thanks for all your help.  If I can tickle your brain one more time?  How would I add a link to my forum home page to that new banner?  Currently the default forum name and description is linked to my home page.

I don't think you can link an image in the header. You could put the Weblink widget in your sidebar and put the link in there?

Thanks so much.  Actually with all the changes you sugested, it looks great and the links to the forum, headlines and about section moved above the banner. So it's not necessary to link the banner.
