Page not found (404) error when trying to reply to message as guest

Which forum is it?

I have the similar problem.

Setup so that guest can post, but having problem for guests' reply. Membership is required, approximately four times out of five or so. 

Somehow, only immediately after I confirm the public setting from admin tool, it always works normal, as far as I try to see the reply box by myself without logging in. But next time I access, usually it goes back to the setting as asking membership for reply.

Any advice would be appreciated. I checked with IE, Chrome, and Safari.

Are you saying that your settings change within your admin panel?  Do you have other co-admins that might be changing it?  Are you switching back and forth between private and public?

The condition is;

- Single Admin.
- No change at all, ALWAYS set as public, allowing any reply from guests.

However, somehow the setting is changing randomly. It requests membership from time to time for reply. Not only for old topics but for the new ones, as well.

Also somehow, if I go into the admin panel, confirm the setting again without any change, it works properly for a while after that. As far as I am checking from other browsers without logging in. ...Then it will go back to requesting membership for the next time I open the forum.

Any idea?

it might be our spam detector requiring somebody to signup and not allowing them to post as a guest.
