I like the Addthis button. Just want to know if each forum will be able to keep track of the statistics for it. If not, not that big of a deal. smile

Very nice addition.

However, if the community is private, and you do a "share this/add this" link -- the person who clicks on the posted (elsewhere) link then would be taken to a "join this site" page in order to view it?
Is that how it will work for private communities?

Been waiting for this since I started in lefora. grin

Well it came as a surprise to me when, being off line, I got loads of calls asking What's this all about and how does affect the security of public forums?

Bit of warning would have been nice. :|

Must say I do not like it and would prefer it to be removable without css tweaks.

I like the addition, one small (maybe picky) thought though, could the dropdown box be right-aligned as to not cover the sidebar?

A lot of my forum members don't like the new feature. It can be removed by CSS coding but has an impact on other items on the site, notably the avatars. If you're running FireFox and have the Ad Block Plus add-on installed you can block the button (if it's not already automatically blocked).

Click the arrow next to the ABP icon and select Open Blockable Items (CTRL + SHIFT + V)

In the Search box at the top enter "addthis" a list of items appears below the search box.
Select http://s7.addthis.com/static/btn/lg-share-en.gif and PRESS ENTER

In the pop up that appears ensure the BLOCKING FILTER button is selected at the top and click ADD FILTER

This will filter out all the SHARE IT Buttons on every page without affecting any other part of the forum.

As for concerns on private forums, it only shares a link to your forum or post, it does NOT share the content within a private forum.  So if a link to a private forum was shared, the person would still need to be a member to view.  We'll be removing this from private forums as it can cause confusion.

In the meantime, if you would like to hide it from your forum, just use this CSS:
.share-this-topic  { display: none; }

And we're happy to here on public forums it's been so well received - many people have asked for this feature over the past few months.
