So, unfortunately I have recently had to hand out a few warnings on my forum.  Just out of curiosity, I sent myself a warning first to see the result, but I haven't gotten a message in my inbox.  How long does it take a member to receive a warning?  Also, how many warnings are there before banning becomes an option?  Thanks for the response in advance.

I'm guessing that this is something else that's affected by the email servers being down. Also, I'd be interested to know if there's any visible sign that a member has been warned...

When you send a warning, you (as Admin) get the opportunity to edit the e-mail before it's sent. Did you see this? If not then it may be blocked on your browser. Example below.

I finally heard back from one of the members, so it is working.  Maybe you just can't warn yourself?

Still, anybody have any idea how many warnings you can give someone, or is there no cap?

As far as I know there is no cap so that the Admin of a specific forum can set out how many warnings he is willing to give before he bans member.

To be able to ban a member, you have to give a member at least 1 formal warning first.

I know and I did that, I have a '1' in my Warning column, but did you receive the PM with the warning?

No I didn't because it's not sent by PM, it's sent by e-mail to the registered e-mail address of the member, however with the current e-mail server issues, it may take a while to come through if at all. Check your SPAM/JUNK filter as e-mails from Lefora have been known to get filtered there. I have not received my e-mail yet.

I was under the impression it was sent via pm because of this:

Regardless, they got the warnings, so it's not a big deal.

You know I never noticed that, trust me to not read the small print ;) I still think it's sent via e-mail but have only sent one once and that member is no longer around to ask which way it came. I'll try again with another member cos I didn't get a PM when I sent one to myself. Be nice to know for sure eh?

Well it is sent by PM, not e-mail, I stand corrected. However, even though you get a chance to edit the message before it's sent, any changes are lost.

Here's what I sent

Hi, this is a warning on your activity in http://xxxxxx.lefora.com as going against the behavior we expect in the forum. If you receive follow-up warnings, we may have to ban your account from this forum.

Test message.
Thanks,

I think you guys have mostly got this one covered, but just for the curious private messages sent to yourself will only appear in your 'Sent Messages' list, and not in your inbox, hence why the warning private message didn't show up.

Cookies, any idea why the edited text was lost? Have tried a couple of times to test this with other members and no matter what I put in the message it always sends the default message.
