private messages going to wrong person/images not uploading/lost postings

Hi bb2, I don't belive there doesn't seem to be anything unusual going on at lefora as other people haven't reported these issues on Lefora.  We'll work with you to try to figure this out.

So you seem to be having a few issues:

#1: You are saying somebody else is receiving PMs that shouldn't be?  What is the username of the person that sent the PM, what is the username of the person that it was sent to, and who else is receiving it?

#2: You say your topics are disappearing.  There's a chance they could be going to SPAM and the admin of the forum needs to mark those posts as 'not spam' in their admin panel to teach our anti-spam technology (under Forum Admin -> Members -> Spam Management)

#3 Not being able to attach images - do you get an error here, can you take screenshots?

#1: In my original post you can see the reaction of the "wrong" person who got /gets messages sent to a different member of a different forum.

[And as I try to attach screen shots to illustrate, there is again no reaction to clicking the button]

I sent the messages to the only member of that forum, Zevon (hunters-jive) but it seems to go to the only member of my other forum. They have two different email addresses.

Hey, I've just noticed that lefora is reporting Zev with 2 different usernames: sureshothunters and hunters-jive. bb2 sent messages to hunters-jive and they are being received by jeffyates who is the only other member of a different forum (Big Boys Club) also hosted by me.

#2: posts going to spam; no posts listed there

#3: images not uploading

By the way: that last image would not be accepted by Insert Image even though I could get to it via the web using the same address. Finally figured that lefora was rejecting the address because it had an apostrophy in the title. Took that out and reuploaded to web and then lefora accepted it.
Can the error message be made to say why the address is invalid so that the user can make corrections?

I just spent half an hour taking screen shots that illustrated the answers to your questions. I couldn't upload the files (same as yesterday) so I had to put them up on the web and use Insert Image to get them up here. Everything seemed to be going well (except for one glitch when I used an ' in the name of one image). I could see all my words and all the inserted images.

But when I hit Submit Reply I got the 404. I went Back hoping to be able to recover the earlier work and or resubmit it but everything cleared before my eyes.

hey bb2, Sorry that you lost you work.  Some browsers save that info, some do not.  I know in Safari and Firefox, when I hit the 'back button' on Lefora, it does save my post.

So there are a lot of pictures attached, a few things:

1. Let's just focus on one problem at a time.  Let's choose #1 as that seems the most critical to me.  I need to see a screenshot of your whole screen, not just a fraction of it so that I can see your browser and URL.  justupit.com is easy for uploading photos.  Please include the information I asked about in #1 above.  Also, if you could start a new PM as a secondary check to make sure whatever hiccup happened, is still happening.

I noticed you had a javascript popup, it appears that might be Opera.  Can you test your experiences in Firefox and see if that helps cure some issues?

Chief: that last post is the one that was "missing". I used the back facility in FF and as you correctly pointed out, the majority of the post /was/ still there, thank the lord.

Just tried again and the Upload files is still not working here in FF. Right now I'm on a win98se machine whereas previous uploads were OK on my xp pro laptop. Other more recent uploads also didn't work from the laptop. Is that an issue?

By the way, the lost postings and wrong PM recipients were all done via the laptop, so how does that work?

Just swapped over to the xp and I was able to upload without dramas. Seems like it's win98se, eh?

Win98 being over 10 years old has it's own problems, so I would attribute windows98 being the culprit.

I did receive your PM.  I'm not sure what happened on that 1st PM you sent going to the wrong person, my thought  is you typed in the wrong username accidently?  If it happens again, please let us know here on this thread.

If dropping win98 fixed your other problems, that's great to here, if not, please let us know (and probably start a new thread with the relevant information and link back to here).
