Hi, I want to shutdown the forum, but have now taken myself off as admin and not shut down the forum. What do I do?

OK, found out what to do, but how long is it until the forum is offline as no-one will be taking over as admin?

If a forum had an active userbase, and they posted messages in the past, we do not allow for it to go offline as the members have rights to those messages.  You can choose to make the forum private if you want or let somebody else step up to admin the forum.

Hi,
Similarly to 'lipgloss' above, I attempted to shut down my forum but all I was able to do is remove myself as admin. I understand your thoughts about members having rights to the old messages, but there does need to be a certain level of pragmatism - no-one has posted on to my old forum for months and it does seem to be a waste of cyberspace to leave it sat there with no useful purpose.

Presumably I could re-appoint myself as admin, then delete all of the message history, and then ask you to shut it down?

We may go through and delete old dormant forums (and notify/warn anybody who is still a member with a few weeks notice).

So if you're concerned about wasting cyberspace, don't worry, it's on our server, we don't mind footing it, and if it's not active, it really doesn't use much resources.  And if it becomes a wasteland, we'll go through and clean it up in the future.

So if you've left a forum you created, you can feel comfortable about just walking away from it.
