Connect your Facebook account with Lefora

#0, by chief, 01 June 2009 10:26 PM

What is Facebook Connect?
If you're on Facebook.com (a social networking site to connect with friends), Facebook Connect allows you to link your Lefora profile with your Facebook Profile, so that updates from your forum can be published in your facebook feed.  Learn more from the Facebook Blog.

What happens when I check 'Publish Topic To Facebook' when starting a new topic?
First, you may need to verify your identity with facebook, then it will allow you to post a short story to your facebook wall about the topic you just started.  This will allow your Facebook friends to see that you started a new topic in your forum.  A link will be provided to them if they want to view the full topic.

How do I connect my Lefora account with Facebook?
Just click 'Edit Profile' at the top of your forum, on your userbar.  You'll see a button to 'Connect with Facebook' which will allow you to link your accounts.  When you click this button, a new window will popup, allowing you to confirm your identity to Facebook.  If you change browsers, log out of Facebook, or goto a different computer, you may need to return to this screen to re-link to your account in your dashboard.

What if I don't use Facebook?
No worries, you don't have to link your account, other than your dashboard, you won't see any Publish to Facebook links around the forum.

Can information from my private forum be shared on Facebook?
Nope, only public forums have the ability to share information with Facebook.

Why do I have to reverify my facebook login frequently?
For security reasons, if you logout of facebook, logout of Lefora, or change browsers (or computers), we may ask you to re-identify yourself to facebook.  This keeps your accounts safe.
