Search Delay

Sorry I may have posted this in te wrong place DOH!

depending on the activity of the forum, it could take some time to show up, 2-3 days would be a long time though, are those for inactive posts (like 0-2 replies?)

Thanks for the reply.

Mine is a new forum so I’m building and testing. The search problem seems a little random finding some words in a post but not all. I’m trying to use 3 letter codes but the search function can’t find them. Lefora is by far the best looking forum I have seen and I want to make it work, but having a good search function is paramount to me. I have a few questions that may help me resolve my issues.

Are whole posts searched or just the first line or word?
Are 3 letter codes long enough?

Is it possible to attaché TAGS to posts for easy searching?

One other slight problem is that some deleted posts are showing up in the searches.

Hi ling, thanks for that feedback.  To answer your questions:

1. Whole posts are searched
2. 3 letter codes may not be the best for searching, a lot of search engines don't perform well on words 3 letters or less, if you could make the terms larger, you would be better for search.
3. One way I've seen tags added to topics is by literally putting the phrase 'tags:' or 'keywords:' at the bottom of a post and adding appropriate keywords that could be found in search, like i've done below.
4. Delete posts may show up in search for sometime, maybe a day or two until they are cleared out of the cache.

We hope to improve our search over the next few months as we test out new search software.

Thanks again for the response, most helpful. I’ll make the codes longer and see how this goes.

I have a background in retail and have always considered manufacturer warranty, and support a key feature of any product. Lefora gets a perfect 10.
