Moving threads - no remains in former category

Hi,

When moving mis-placed threads from one category to another no remains is seen of it in the former section. This might cause people to think the thread has been deleted, not moved. On many other forums when moving a thread one locked post is left behind telling where it has been moved and optionally why. Can this feature be included?

thanks for the suggestion.  When moving a thread, the url stays in tact, so if anybody linked to the thread from another website, it will still work.

Is your concern more for people browsing the forum, do you think they'll not look in other categories?

Yes, my concern is for other people. Some people only follow a few categories and will not see that a thread has been moved somewhere else. They might think it has been deleted by the admins.

understood, they will get email notifications when the thread is replied to (even if it's in a different category).

however, this is temporarily down and will be back up over the next week or two.

Who will get email notifications? The one that started the thread that was moved, all who posted in the thread or everyone that read the thread?

agathos, all who posted in the thread who have not read it since it's last change, we keep track of all that, this is called a 'daily digest' of all unread activity that you participated in on the forum, and a member has the option of turning this off.  in the future we'll be adding additional notification options, such as tracking individual threads.

quasar, sarcasm aside, these are notifications we're currently work on.  We had them in the past, but they've been for some time.
