Hi all,
I am new to this forum and have never hosted my own forum.
I am looking for the right system to use.
Can anyone tell me, is it possible to download Lefora so I can host it on my other web host provider? If so, is it FREE, like downloading open source PHP etc?
Reason; I wish to be able to customize the appearance of the forum in CSS,
And allow companies to advertise, in which I would be in complete control, profiting from my own advertisers.
Thanks for reading
i dunno about this... maybe chief can answer this
The simple answer to your question is no. (Not a Lefora Admin) However if you have no experience with running a Forum I would recommend starting a Free one with Lefora and see how it works out. You can decide later to pay if you wish to run your own adds or no adds at all. All the Software needed to customize stuff is in your Admin Control Panel once you sign up for a Forum. Nothing to download required.
If you are looking for free Forum type software and are willing to undertake a large learning curve, you might look into Lussumo .
hi avery123, lefora is a hosted forum service, just like gmail/hotmail are hosted email services.
However, everything you would want to do on your own server, like customize your CSS, you can do right here on Lefora. We give admins full control of their forum's layout and design. You can think of Lefora as an ISP and Forum software rolled into one, where we give admins all the control.
By combining an ISP and Forum software into one package, we can offer free upgrades to your forum, protect you from spammers, run a forum at a lower cost than a traditional ISP and offer scalability beyond most other forum software packages.
If there is a feature or item you have a question about, please let us know.
Hosted services, from forums, to email, to blogs are becoming the preferred method on the web, due to their ease of use, free maintenance and security protection, and the value they return - all while given a site admin full control of the service. This is typically referrer to as Cloud Computing or Software as a Service (SaS)
