Due to our rapidly growing size, we're spending our time between developing new features and scaling existing features. Some of you have been having problems with the Search function over the past few days because of this.
Our search service is starting to reach it's limits in terms of the number of pages the search database must index and make reference to. Over the next few months, we'll be building a new search server that will be optimized for all of Lefora forums, until then, we're opting to go with the #1 search engine to display results to members of your forum.
Lefora will start using Google's very own Search Engine in your forum (Public forums only). When you do a search on your forum, you will see a set of results returned by the Google search engine.
If your forum is Private, I'm afraid Google will not be able to crawl and index your site. Private forums are free to turn their forum public at any time, and as a Public forum, you can control who has access to post within your forum. We always recommend to choose a public forum as this allows Lefora to help drive new members to your forum through search and other mechanisms.
The Google Search Engine will replace your existing search function while we build out our own new search service. We don't have a timeline of how long this will take, but it will be on the order of weeks/months as we're also focused on a few other features right now. We've been happy with the quality of search results that Google returns and it will be an improvement over the search results your members have received during the past few weeks.
