Sluggish forum
I don't know if this really is a bug. What I have been noticing myself and keep hearing from my members, is that the forum is sluggish. Loading pages takes a lot of time and requires a fast Internet connection. This is an obstacle to me recruiting new members and therefore essential for me. I keep comparing my forum to other more traditional forums, like those powered by SimpleMachines, and mine is much more slow to load the content. This makes the forum less user-friendly. It is not just my forum either (it could be since I have lots of widgets n' stuff) but "clean" forums too with next to nothing content, no CSS and only standard widgets.
I guess this could be some inherent artefact of such modern, feature-strong and highly customizable forums, and hence not much to do about; but still, is there some way of speeding things up? Is the way I order my CSS code important? Will upgrading make a faster forum? Are you doing somethig already to speed things up?

I have been noticing on a private design Lefora Forum a near stop when loading. It seems to occur when getting a /coop.crdctrl d/l that does not respond. Whatever Server that provides this must be having troubles. I note that at a earlier point in the load there is a url for /lefora/crdctrl that is also sluggish. (note the urls are just from memory so might not be complete)
I noticed this too, but wasn't sure if it was just my connection. I seem to remember getting stuck on quantserve a few times.... there was something else which I can't remember but it wasn't what Matt noticed...
I am also noticing a halt with pixel.quantserve as well as coop.crwdcntrl, last one sorta looks like crowd control. Could be the security folks are using their batons on the data packets to keep them from rioting. I could see where that could lead to a halt in transportation services.
seems even slower tonight. All i get is 'waiting for' the forum name... other websites load ok while i'm waiting for lefora, so it's not the connection...
We may have had some slowness over the weekend.
agathos, I believe your forum's lack of speed is due to the flash widgets you have on your sidebar. Each one of those come from a different service (not lefora) but will slow down the overall page load because the lefora page cannot fully load until those items are loaded. Flash is pretty bandwidth intensive.
When comparing Lefora to another service, like simple machines, you'd want to test lefora out of the box, with no third-party widgets installed, you would see that lefora does return a page pretty quickly in that instance. If simplemachines supported 3rd party widgets, you would see it slow down as well.
If your forum speed is holding people back, you could remove a few of those third-party widgets from the sidebar and see if that helps. Maybe it's just one widjet that's really slow or maybe it's all of them together. You'll have to test that out to know.
Still slow loading on Private Forum, hangs mostly on coop.crwdcntrl.net. Do not experience this on Regular Forum that is open viewing (do not even see a crwdcntrl address). It is especially noticeable waiting for the Reply text box to load. Have no widgets at all on the Private site.

But still with a "clean" forum (one without third party flash thingies) with only 24 posts it loads MUCH slower than a SimpleMachine forum with thousands of posts. So it is not just the content of the sidebar, the whole forum in itself seems to be slower to load.
