I have tried to start a forum, but I keep getting the screen name I used to test the forum.
Because of this I have deleted up to 3 new forums trying to get rid of this name.
Unfortunately when I try to set up a new forum, the old forum name is there and I can not use it.
Also the screen name I used always comes up with every new forum I started.
I now have no formus, but keep getting the old screen name.
How can I get rid of all the names and forum manes so I can start fresh?
Thanks
Ted
Once you register under a name and email account you can only create a new one with a new email and not reuse the same name. Forum names are not recoverable once registered to a User name regardless if they are abandoned or deleted. So pick your User name with care and also that of your Forum.
Just thinking about this a bit, it occurs that perhaps Lefora could have a Practice Forum thingy so that folks could see how things would look without fully committing to the real deal. Either that or a notice to make sure that you are happy with your Forum name before it becomes a live Forum.
Just some thoughts.
Before I became an admin on www.orangecountyfixed.com I created my own forum using my existing username. I named it "check 1-2" and used it to test out the features and figure out how things work behind the scenes. I still use this site to test things and play around with css and colors, etc etc. If you have a username you want, create the account. There's no reason you need to delete an account just because you aren't happy with the forum. Make a test site with an off the wall name and roll with it. When you are happy, go all in.
Good luck. Have fun.
Bear in mind that you can change the forum name using forum admin without changing the address...
Reregistering isn't the end of the world either as you can grant founder privileges to your new ID from within the forum admin > members screen. The only thing you'll lose is your post count...
