yes, you can add a widget to your sidebar.  I've seen forums use a cafepress.com store on their sidebar.  

You can also link to any online store from within a topic on on your sidebar (like an amazon or ebay store).  If those stores provide flash widgets, you can embed the flash into your sidebar using the 'Custom HTML' widget.
