Is it possible to make tthe "about" on my forum the default home page?
If yes, how?

that is not possible. You could always give out the link of your forum's about page so that people bookmark that. And whenever you link to your forum, you could link to the about page - just yourforum.lefora.com/pages/about

Its just that I wanted new visitors to be met with a "Homepage" Style look with pictures etc from which they could move on to the forums. As a group with few members as of yet the forum as if yet is unlikely to ttract them to join but a snazzy about page (home page) might have worked.
