Hello all and thanks to Chief and co for allowing people like me the opportunity to build a community.
I've gone as far as laying the basics down - I will tweak and polish as I go along... But: I'm trying to list categories in groups; the only way I can make this look tidy and not so cluttered is by inserting dividers - but I can't find anything that will give me the options to do so... Am I missing something... or ??

You have to go into Forum Admin > Settings > Categories and create a new group separator (or more than one if you need them) - Name them appropriately and drag your categories to the correct group - these groups will then be displayed on your forum, separated by a gap.

Can I change the separator colour?
Also, if I add text to the separator, it then becomes a categry of its own - I was hoping to use the separators as titles too...
The separator is the Group that contains all the Categories beneath it. Clicking on the Group displays all Topics in those Categories. Yes you can change the Color using css addition in your Admin panel. See Categories in HackYour.Lefora.com for methods.
