My country is censoring websites

Am I the only one getting places names and certain vocabulary deleted from my posts?

Here's the issue, as I see it;

I'm in the capital city of a certain country which practices internet censorship and other not so nice things (well, all countries do this, really) and I'm wondering if LeFora is using flag-soft to delete references so it doesn't make certain people angry...

I understand this necessity.

I've been purposefully misspelling place names to avoid their flag-software like "Tybbhet", "Chynnha" and "Bayjhing" but sometimes I forget.

Any thoughts on this?

we (lefora) do not censor any words.  There are some unfortunate countries in this world that do.  So it sounds like your country is filtering words on websites.  That is tragic, sorry we can't be of help.  We don't believe in political censorship.

I have never had anything censored by Lefora.  If anything, administrators may find some things offensive that many others don't, but that is per forum, not Lefora itself.

I am the administrator of Russian Cars Forum, http://russiancars.lefora.com I enjoy how easy it is to use, but are you able to filter certain ads from appearing on our pages, please?

I am referring to ads for Russian bride websites, and other ads showing scantiilly clad women. People under the age of 18 are likely to visit our forum, and the suggestive pictures make me uncomfortable.

I realize that the advertisements keep the forum site free to us, and I have no objections to ads from automotive product marketers, travel agencies, car dealers, car collector clubs, and anything directly related to cars and travel.

Do I have any options regarding this matter?

Thank you,

I think adsense allows the user to filter ads as well as filter out certain advertisers.  Chief am I right?  You should right down the addresses or website names that are showing the ads, then Chief chould be able to filter those out.

Otherwise it's difficult becuase Adsense shows ads based on page content.

Thanks bibby1, yes we are using Google Adsense and google decides what to show based on the content of your forum, i'm sorry to hear that it's russian brides.  Google tries to automatically filter out inappropriate content.

marrkcrowel, you have the option of upgrading to Lefora Pro which completely removes the ads from your forum.  You can do this via your forum's admin panel, just click 'Upgrades'

Wachwurd... Just a thought, and I know it doesn't solve you problems, but have you tried spelling commonly censored words by putting spaces between letters...? Eg: C h i n a...?

This seemed to work on a fossil forum I belonged to where we couldn't name sites like Ebay... Even worse, we couldn't even mention proper UK fossil place names like Scunthorpe, because the first four letters after the initial "S" form a swearword... :-O

How did the delete fail, did you get an error?  If so, can you please start a new topic with the error you're getting and include screenshots.

I'm locking this topic as the original post was about censorship within another country for websites.  You may start a new topic if needed.
