Inviting members
Love this feature so thanks for re-introducing it. I assume that any members can invite anybody to become a member of the forum? Is there anyway to disable this so that only admins can do this? I know that i will still have to approve them but do not want every man and his dog being invited to my forum.
Thanks! ![]()
there's no way to turn it off. If you are having a problem with ever man and his dog trying to join your forum (a problem a lot of admins would like to have :), you could post in your forum how members should (or should not use) the invite feature. If people abuse it, you should let them know via a PM or possibly an email. We've found the best way for people to respect the rules of the forum is to be very clear how members should act, and if they don't follow that, a direct PM usually helps.
Nicmac, for my forum, members know what is and isn't appreciated. They invite friends based on that.
If your members know what you expect from others on your forum, they will most likely only invite others who will fit the bill.
Chief has given good advice.
Thanks guys, my forum is kinda odd in that respect; we provide training courses and the guys/girls are only invited in if they reach a required standard so we don't want anybody else in as it spoils it for those that have achieved.
I think everybody knows the score to be honest but just thought an off switch would prevent honest mistakes but so long as i still get to approve them then that is fine.
Thanks for the comments.
