How do you use categories in your forum?

We're working on building a large 'How-To' guide for forum owners to share tips and best practices.  We just added an article for new forum admins setting up categories in their forum, and the common pitfall of setting up too many empty categories at first.

We're looking for additional examples and ideas to add to the article.  And if we add your ideas or examples, we'll feature you prominently on the article, which will help drive more traffic to your forum, as these how-to's will be read by thousands of forum admins.
