Can I get an honest critique?
I just started a forum for pescetarians (people whose diet would be considered vegetarian but also include seafood in their diet). Believe it or not, there is a need for this since most other sites are for vegetarians only. This is my first attempt at anything like this...I've never even blogged before, lol. Can you all go to my site and tell me what you think of it? What should I add, What should I delete? Can I do anything to make the site more appealing? Should I add audio? Etc...
I don't really have a lot of members yet, but I am trying to advertise where I can. Any suggestions of where I should go to inform people about the site would be helpful as well.
I REALLY want this site to be a success, so any critique on how to make it better would truly be appreciated. Thank you
Just took a look,I like it. Looks like you put a lot of thought into it. From my standpoint it's a lot to take in all at once. I don't mean to say busy, just confusing if you are a newcomer.
hope that helps.
pescetarian, it looks like you've done a really nice job so far. I love that image in the top right of your forum on the sidebar.
One thing I recommend to new admins is to not have any categories with 0 topics, as that can turn off new members from being the first one's to post there. I would recommend either starting a few topics yourself (and adding some replies), or removing the topics until the forum is a bit more active and then adding those topics so they get populated quickly.
Here's a number of helpful tutorials for starting a forum on Lefora and promoting it. Please let me know if you have any requests for other types of tutorials:
Also, have you tried used the Lefora 'Send Invites' to send an invite to friends in your email address book? We've seen a very good success rate from admins who use this feature on Lefora. If you're on facebook, we allow you to 'connect' your lefora profile to your facebook profile and post updates to your Facebook wall.
Hope these suggestions are helpful :)
