Just got bombed by a spammer!
I just got about 30 posts from a spammer that was not picked up by your spam system. This is the second time that this has happened. How can I prevent this in the future? I have deleted the profile and am working on deleting all of the posts. ARRRGGG!
Sorry to hear that! We had a similar ourbreak just a few days ago (our first). It wasn't all about Nike shoes, was it...? lol
Member approval - I love it.
We actually block tens of thousands of spam messages every day, most don't even get to your forum, however, sometimes some spam can get through.
What we recommend is that you click the 'spam' link on any post that is spam, this will train our system to recognize spam in your forum and on other forums, just like the 'mark as spam' button works in your email program.

Why do we keep getting posts here about Nike shoes, warcraft levelling, and dvd ripping?
At least it is not male performance upgrades and inexpensive recreational pharmaceuticals. I get enough of those on TV these days.

lol I get more than enough of those in my email... Am glad I don't get them on Lefora too... ;-D
The support forum tends to get hit with more spam then any other forum because it is linked to by every other forum - every forum has a 'help' link to the support forum at the top.
The way the spammers work, is they are spambots that crawl the web for links and forms, the support forum is linked from hundreds of thousands of pages, so it's 'attacked' more than most forums and I think our automatic system does a pretty good job of keeping it clean, especially since we allow for guest posting (no signup required).

I thought it was someone from a Leforum all about Nike shoes who was repeatedly abusing the system and plugging at will...
Just out of curiosity, is there any reason you can think of why the Nike spammer always (in my limited experience) seems to target the CSS board...? Can't remember seeing his/her posts anywhere other than there...
