Appearing as recently online when not logged in

Why do I appear as recently online when I have not logged in, but have merely viewed a page?

- this has started within the last week or two
- My avatar will have a green button when I view a page even though I have been logged out for the night and haven't logged back in again the next day.
- It isn't automatically logging me back in, in fact I'm not logged in at all because I'm unable to post or see messages, I just have the green circle and appear in the recently online box

obviously nobody cares - you may think I'm talking about the delay that occurs with the recently online green button

I'm NOT

It's an invasion of privacy - you must be using my ip address to show me as recently online if my name and password haven't been typed in.

Unless you get bumped by enough log'ed in members your Avatar remains in the recently online box (moves downwards til bumped out). As for the green light it could simply be a cache issue with your Browser. I found I had a cached Background image that kept displaying for me though no one else could see it. Flushing your cache usually clears that stuff up.

However I do believe that IP is kept tracked up so that it does not add to number of views of a Topic.

hi doo, i'm not sure why that's happening, as if you log out, then the green dot should disappear after a few minutes.

When you are visiting the forum the next day, are you sure that your webbrowser isn't automatically logging you in (sometimes you can have a setting saved for that).  Can you take a screenshot of this happening, that shows the userbar at the top (so we can see you're not logged in) and displays the green dot, and display's your system clock.

My green light disappeared after about 15 or 20 minutes.

yes, very helpful - I know there's a delay... But it has started to show the green light when I view the page, am not logged in and haven't been for several hours

Could someone on the forum at the same time confirm that they see the green light too, and that it's not just a cached image on your puter?

I did clear the cache when if first happened and it didn't help

I view the page and a couple of minutes later it puts me in recently online with the green light. How can it be cached when it doesn't appear immediately, but does after I've looked at a couple of threads and refreshed a couple of times?

yes doo, could you confirm if after 30min of your last visit that other members see a green light by your avatar, it could be cached image.

I now have this confirmed by another member of the group. Not logged in for an hour, but have the green light showing

thanks for reporting, it may be a cookie issue on your machine or with your browser.  We'll continue to watch this to see if anybody else reports the error (if anybody else is experiencing this, please post below and include your webbrowser version)
