urgent email to lefora
I apologize for posting this here, but there seems to be a problem with PMs at the moment and if it weren't so serious, I would wait.
I sent an urgent email via the contact form last night to lefora support and have not gotten a response. Could someone please check that out?
Thanks.
I have emailed lefora support, posted a message here, and PMed Chief regarding a TOU violation that is potentially dangerous and I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE.
IT IS IN REGARDS TO A LEFORA FORUM WHERE SOMEONE HAS OFFERED $25 TO ANYONE WHO CAN "PROVIDE THE FULL NAME AND ADDRESS" OF OTHER LEFORA MEMBERS.
I CERTAINLY HOPE NO ONE ENDS UP GETTING HURT BECAUSE OF IT. LEFORA DOESN'T SEEM TO BE CONCERNED.
Can't you just warn/ban the member who is doing it...? If there's more to it, then the more information you share with us the better help you will receieve. As much detail as possible would be best, IMO...;-D
Perhaps they are not concerned because members are not registered with full name and address? A domain owner maybe if they have not paid for anonymity from a whois search. Even as Admin I do not know the name of Forum members unless they post it.
Really it sounds like another Internet hoax or phishing scam. I would be quite willing to send 100's of fictitious addresses of Lefora members that I will make up for the ability to collect $25/ea.
I remain unconcerned and will sleep well tonight.
Hi xanonymousx, I did not receive any email from you and my PM box is full - I ask that people please post their issues here on support and not PM me.
We are concerned about privacy, however, we do not collect the personal postal address of our members - so this sounds like a hoax to me. Thank you for bringing it to our attention though.
Sorry for being rude, I'm just a little irritated. This is what I'm talking about:
http://theelectriccitybuzz.lefora.com/2009/09/22/bonus-quiz-50/page1/
I know that you guys at lefora don't keep that kind of information, otherwise I wouldn't be concerned. He's trying to get it from other members. Each person on that list has been threatened recently by people on or associated with that forum.
Again, sorry for my tone earlier.
Having read through the link it sounds as if you need to take it up with the Admins of that Forum . Personally, my Forum would immediately take down such a posting as violating our rules of conduct. However that Forum makes up their own rules in that regard.
I would suggest you leave the Forum there. This can be done in the edit profile area. I would further suggest being wary of giving out personal information if you feel it may be used to harm yourself.
This is a privacy issue. That person is attempting to pay money to find personal information of other Lefora members (http://www.andersontalkzone.com/headlines/ is a Lefora forum). The admin of the forum in question has been contacted and the post is still there.
That forum may make its own rules, but their rules do not override Lefora's TOU, specifically this part:
"You agree that you will not:
(r) harvest or collect any information about or regarding other
Account holders, including, without limitation, any personal data or
information;"
As for leaving the forum, I'm not a member and never have been. I saw a link to that post on another site. This is a clear violation of Lefora's TOU. I'm not asking that the forum be closed, but anyone can see the potential danger in that single thread and it should be removed.
We ask that with abuse complaints, you please contact the admin of the forum first (we have 85,000 forums). If there is no resolution, please follow the instructions in our Privacy Policy at www.lefora.com/privacy/
