Soft-deleted posts are collapsed w/c admins and mods can still open up and check and can undo but already seen as invisible by the members. Maybe after x amount of months, it can automatically hard delete itself if it were not undone by the founder.
Thanks.

Only thing that changed in my system is that I recemtly upgraded to firefox 3.0.4 but do not know if that is the cause of the problem or something else.

Re: Content Importer not working.
November 16, 2008 by t-cell
In my case, it is working quite consistently already. When re-entering a blog, do you still include the /feed syntax. Try not to include that syntax before hitting the 'save' button and that will give you another 10 post pop. I used to do that when the importer wasn't importing consistently but now it does. Also, try going to your admin panel and go to spam management to see if some are in there and un-spam them. Some imports goes there when the site you are importing from provides multiple contents a day.
Hope that helped a little. I'm sure Chief and Cookie will come along soon.

Re: Get yourself loaded with Stats
November 7, 2008 by t-cell
Try using other free counters out there. Use one that offers also offers HTML code versions. Also, not all are compatible with lefora as you've mentioned.
Currently, I am using sitemeter.com. No problems, so far.
Hope that helps.

Also, the standard editor is loading very slowly on my forum the last few days or so. In the support forum, it's the usual speed.
Thanks in advance.
Re: How many viewers?
October 13, 2008 by t-cell
Hi. You guys can read this thread by chief: http://support.lefora.com/2008/04/08/get-yourself-loaded-stats/page1/#post1100546
There are many free counters out there available for download but not all support both HTML and java. Java versions are not currently compatible with our forum.
You may also test at least 2-3 counters running at the same time to fully compare w/c is best for you. There is really no better way to compare but to run each counter side-by-side at real-time. Sometimes, what they advertise does not always work the way you thought and some free counters don't have the ability to ignore your own visits and page views (or is only available in a 3-week trial), w/c really skews the stats to make it appear that there are more visitors and page views than there really is.
You can visit my site: foreign-nurse.lefora.com if you want to see what I use and what it looks like.
I must have tested at least 4 free counters before and this was I found to be suitable for me, for now.

Re: Soft-delete option instead of hard deleting
September 13, 2008 by t-cell
Hi,
do you see the main use for this being an admin/mod deleting something that they shouldn't?I'm just wondering if it would be better to have a single list of all deleted topics/posts so you could check them all quickly, rather than having to happen to stumble across them within the forum.
We have the ability to provide this function, but need to make sure its clear to understant, I worry putting it inline in the forum may confuse some people with the thumb down function.
Thanks for the sugestion, we'll see what we can do next time we refresh the moderation function.
-cookies
Yes, exactly. I had experiences before on my last forum I was co-moderating where members were complaining that their posts were being deleted with no apparent reason and the post was never reported as being a bad post or with lefora's case, never had any thumbs down at all and we cannot trace where it has gone.
The only solution was to take away all hard delete options. This rules out the possibility that an admin or mod with a grudge against a particular member (or a grudge against co-mods or admins and trying to sabotage the forum) hard deleting all their posts as members will naturally blame it on the mod or admin first rather than think that it may be a bug or something happening at the background already concerning the staff.
Anyway, this is just a suggestion. Maybe lefora can do something similar or to that effect.
Thanks for hearing me out.

Re: How do I edit a post? How do I delete a post?
September 10, 2008 by t-cell
i dont like that ruling =(...i think we should be allowed editting rights...just the admin though...seeing as i cant edit posts...i cant sort something and it ruins the flow.
-w00shy
The 15 min. rule does not apply to admins already and can edit any post anytime.
No limits on private/personal messages in lefora?

I think this is a great feature and a great way to entice people to be members if so.
Thanks

Re: Continuous Blog Importer
September 4, 2008 by t-cell
The blog importer should be importing your RSS feed once a day. However, there have been some issues with RSS feeds that have invalid characters causing the importer to stop after the first time, we're looking into it.
-chief
Thanks, Chief. I think this is one of lefora's best feature and what many uses or will use once they discover how useful it is.
Re: Remove/Edit widget in admin panel not working
September 4, 2008 by t-cell
Hi,
the problem appears to be them, I took a look at your forum and in it html the statcounter is still there, but the image it loads is blank, the code points to the following:Which seems to load a blank gif image.
So perhaps their code changed or I see you have multiple stat counters, it's possible they don't get on very well with each other, though thats a little unlikely. Nothing we've done should effect the exsiting code, so try contacting their support if they have it.
Glad you like the new theme.
Thats a neat header image you have on your forum.-cookies
Yeah, it's probably them as I just recently found out that sitemeter had a major problem just last month.
I just need to try other counters to compare with the highly recommended StatCounter as I think it's not accurately reflecting "lurkers" on their graph eventhough I see from their other stats that they are able to see the all the IP adds. of all those who visits. Their graph is just reflecting a handful of visitors and pageloads and even had a day with zero but when I go see the details on their other stats, they are able to see all Ip adds of all visitors. Just odd that they don't reflect it on their graph.
Clicky is reflecting everything on their summary and graphs and as is sitemeter.

The icon from sitemeter is still missing though.
Remove/Edit widget in admin panel not working
September 3, 2008 by t-cell
Also, the graphic/icon from the sitemeter counter is not anymore visible. The link is still there and it still goes to their site but the icon is gone. Could not tell for sure if this is a problem from their side since I cannot edit widgets from the admin panel anymore, as mentioned.
The code was definitely the HTML version and everything was fine before the new theme was implemented, so I'm presuming this is just another hiccup or bug.
Thanks and I really like all the new features in the new theme. I'm definitely converted to the new theme now and would not go back to the classic theme.

P.S. This is the link to my forum if you guys want to see what I'm talking about: http://foreign-nurse.lefora.com/forum/
Re: Get yourself loaded with Stats
September 2, 2008 by t-cell
thanks, we used to support google analytics, but stopped because it conflicted with our own stats. As for statcounter, I just gave it a test and it worked for me, would you be able to send me a PM (private message) or email with the stat code you're trying to embed. My email is 'chief -at- lefora.com'-chief
When you said we stop supporting google analytics, does this mean it won't run properly on the individual forums and the individual admins can't use it properly and therefore not recommended or we still can. Kindly clarify. Thanks in advance.

Are their problems running 2 or more counters at the same time?

The tab of the first widget on sidebar gets cut-off
August 29, 2008 by t-cell
I've seen at least one forum that it's ok but I think for most, it gets cut-off. There are also some other small visual issues such as the thumbnail avatars not always showing-up. etc...
Also, it seems someone is spamming the support forum once in a while and able to post as 'guests' and I'm not sure if this is intentional to test the anti-spamming capability of the forums or their really is someone trying to spam the support forum.
Just letting you guys know.
Thanks.
Re: Aug 21st - Sneak Preview some upcoming changes...
August 27, 2008 by t-cell
I don't know if it's just me but I don't see the thumbs up and down graphics anymore. There's just a gray +/- on it's place. I use the latest firefox and when I checked under IE 7, it's just the same so I don't think it's from the browsers. Thanks in advance.

May I suggest that the lefora team make some short tutorial videos for admins and regular members on how to fully use the features that will be available to them. Thanks.
